1. Research
Reviewed wellness and health apps (Noom, MyFitnessPal, Fitbit)
Conducted informal user interviews to understand diabetic lifestyle pain points
Identified key emotional needs: simplicity, encouragement, and peer support
2. Design Strategy
Design tone: Playful + Supportive + Clear
Created a modular layout using grid-based cards for easy scanning
Chose bright colors and friendly visuals to create emotional uplift
3. Wireframes & Low-Fidelity
Mapped out key flows: Challenges, Events, Community Feedback
Prioritized discoverability of user-generated challenges and events
4. Visual Design
Primary Colors: Yellow (energy & optimism), Blue (trust), Green (growth)
Typography: Friendly, clean sans-serif for readability
Custom sticker-like UI elements like “You’re Doing Amazing” to boost morale
Overview
Fini is a health and wellness startup focused on improving the lives of diabetics through community-based challenges, events, and curated wellness content. As part of my internship assignment, I designed a digital interface and landing experience tailored to diabetic users to promote engagement, education, and empowerment.
Problem
Diabetics often face motivation fatigue and lack accessible peer support for lifestyle changes. Fini’s challenge was to create a simple, engaging, and empowering interface that:
Encourages participation in health-related challenges
Promotes in-person and digital events
Builds a supportive online community
Goals
Empower users to track their diabetic health goals through gamified challenges
Provide event tools to host or join community activities
Increase user engagement through social and motivational design
